In an effort to promote discussion and get users to spend more time on their site, Facebook has rolled out replies and threaded comments for posts on business Pages. This means that you will be able to reply directly to someones’ comment and that a conversation, similar to those on message boards and other sites, are easier to start, see and keep track of. Popular comments will move to the top of the discussion tree, while others will move down. You can read more about it in this Facebook release.
We feel that this is a great addition to Pages and will make it easier for you to promote discussion if used creatively. The setting isn’t turned on by default (as of this writing, but all Pages will have the featured enabled on July 30, 2013), so you will need to do the following to activate the “Replies” feature.
– Log into the Facebook account you use to manage your business Page and navigate to that Page
– In the Admin Panel, select “Edit Page” at the top and then “Manage Permissions”
– Click the check-box allowing “replies to comments on my Page”. Be careful when changing other settings because you may make your Page invisible to those not logged in.
– “Save Changes” and that’s it!
You can use this new feature to encourage a lively discussion. Don’t forget to ask questions and get involved in the discussion itself!
